Within the confines of the room, the speakers vibrate at specific frequencies, amplified by electricity, and the sticks hit the drums and it all creates these waves that move and bounce through the heavy summer air and then disappear forever. Music is very temporary until it’s laid down on tape or converted to ones and zeroes.

‘Betrayal Mixtape’ is filled with rhythms, droners, dissonance, jams, improvisations, melodies, and shambly pop songs. It’s not perfect. It’s not even close. It was recorded live throughout 2017 with only two vocal overdubs (‘Betrayal Mix’, ‘The Career Fair’). Most tracks are completely improvised, and you can certainly tell. These songs were played once and completely forgotten until the many hours of recordings were sifted through in search of the best parts. And there are some great moments in there. Moments to rock out to and moments to get lost in.

This tape is a snapshot of a band doing what they love, playing off each other and creating something out of nothing. I hope you enjoy it-- or at least agree that it’s better on tape than being lost to the ether forever.
